Scanwell was founded in Hong Kong in 1981. The first US office opened in 1982. The original business was air-express. In 1983, ocean freight service was added, and in 1984, consolidation programs and service were developed. IT development evolved in the late 80's and early 90's.

The company has experienced tremendous growth since 1981. From twelve people in 1981, today Scanwell employs over 2000 people worldwide. Scanwell operates 13 offices in North American, 35 offices in Asia, 4 offices in Europe and 14 offices in China. All offices are company owned and staffed with Scanwell employee. In addition, Scanwell has established a worldwide network of agents who are qualified to service the needs of our customers.
